Athletic Center Update: March 2007
God is doing great things in the lives of the people and through the ministries of Harvest Bible Chapel. One of those great things is because of the generous support of the Mitchell Swaback Foundation (MSF). After several weeks of construction delays last summer, the work restarted in earnest in September 2006. Since that time, the Mitchell Swaback Athletic Complex has really started to take shape.
Here is a glimpse of the ministries that will benefit from this state-of-the-art athletic facility.
This complex will be used daily by the students of Harvest Christian Academy (HCA) for their health and fitness classes. Now in only its third year of existence, HCA currently enrolls nearly 600 students from preschool through eighth grade. With the school expanding through tenth grade in 2007-2008 and through twelfth grade, Lord willing, in 2009-2010, this facility could not come at a more perfect time.
"What an amazing provision of God! The Mitchell Swaback Foundation is making it possible for our new school to offer a world-class athletic facility to our students at Harvest" said Dr. Jeffrey Mattner, Superintendent of HCA. "Our physical education classes as well as our interscholastic sports teams will benefit from this athletic complex. This will be a place that impacts students for many years to come, to the glory of God."
As you can see from these photos, the gym is taking shape. When it is completed, the complex will include a gym with three basketball courts, three volleyball courts, bleachers for spectators, a workout room with cardio and strength equipment, locker rooms, equipment storage, laundry facilities, and even a concession stand.
Ty Gooch, Pastor of Small Groups and Sports and Fitness Ministry at Harvest Bible Chapel says, "I look forward to the expanded opportunities that these facilities will give our Sports and Fitness Ministry. Athletic competition is a great entry point for people to get plugged into small group Bible studies and the church as a whole. I know that Mitch Swaback loved sports. This building seems like a fitting tribute to his life and ministry."
We plan to keep you up-to-date with photos and stories of what God is doing as the construction progresses. Right now, the Mitchell Swaback Athletic Complex is scheduled to open in fall 2007. We welcome your financial partnership for this important project. And more importantly, we invite you to join us in prayer for the lives that God will change through the events that take place in this facility.
