Supporter Spotlight: Dr. Carmen Tebbe
This month we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Carmen Tebbe and why she chooses to support MSC:
Q - How did you hear about MSC? Where do you live and what is your occupation? I played volleyball in college with Mitch’s sister, Nicolee, and we built a strong friendship that has lasted over many years. Currently, I live in Norman, OK and work as a sport/counseling psychologist for the University of Oklahoma.
Q - Why do you choose to support MSC financially each month? I choose to support MSC monthly because I have known Nicolee and her family for a long time. I am amazed at how they have been able to overcome a tragedy and use it for such good. I trust them and the decisions that they make so I trust that my money will be put to good use for those who really need it.
Q - Do you see MSC making a difference in our local and foreign communities? Yes, I see a difference! Mitch loved the orphanages that he volunteered at and the pictures show how much they loved him! My favorite story of how MSC is making a difference in local communities is the Christmas Day give-aways for the homeless in Phoenix. Nicolee kept one of Mitch's jackets and was wearing it that day. There was a homeless man who needed a coat and even though it was one of Nicolee's last memories from Mitch, she gave him the coat.
Q - What charitable work would you like to see MSC continue with or branch into? My favorite organizations are ones that help children who aren't in a position to help themselves. Providing children with hope that they can change their own future is important.
Q - With the economy still recovering, incomes low and families struggling why is it, in your opinion, still important to support MSC? I truly believe that if God can trust us with the little things, he can trust us and will bless us with the big things, including financial security. Giving money to charity has helped me not get attached to material things in life and stay focused on the important things in life - people. It is also a reminder of how blessed and grateful I am. Whenever I can stay in a frame of mind of being blessed and grateful, I don't get as caught up in the daily frustrations and anxiety.
Q - Anything else you would like to say about MSC? To me, Mitch was someone who had a deep, deep faith and was able to relate to so many different people. People loved him! I think he was an example of how religion/spirituality can be fun and exciting and not always "look a certain way." I am proud to be part of the message that MSC spreads.
