Supporter Spotlight: Dennis and Mary Beth Horstman

This month’s Supporter Spotlight highlights a family from Arlington Heights, Illinois. Read below as to why Dennis and Mary Beth Horstman have been dedicated to serving MSC financially and prayerfully.

1) In a few lines explain who are you, where do you work, live, kids etc?

Mary Beth and I have three adult children: Kevin is our oldest and is married to Erin. They have little Reagan who is 14 months old. Our middle child is Annie who lives and works in Nashville, Tennessee. Our youngest is Craig and who is married to Sarah and blessed us with another grandchild Caden who is 16 months old and they reside in Des Moines, Iowa. I, Dennis, have worked for Chicago Cabinet & Fixture for almost 30 years since we moved here from Iowa. Mary Beth works in the offices of Christian Liberty Academy.

2) How did you first hear about or get associated with MSC?

We have known Bob & Gaye for some time now and our son Kevin was in the youth group at Harvest at the same time Mitch was. We did some work for Bob & Gaye in their condo in Arlington Heights and I also worked with Bob on the carpentry team at Harvest in our early years there. Having a son the same age as Mitch really hit home with me when Mitch lost his life. What affected me the most in this tragic situation and the years that followed, was the way that Bob handled the situation. I believe Bob & Gaye have poured their heart and soul into the work being done by MSC, when in reality; they could easily have gone the other way in dealing with Mitch's death.

3) Do you see MSC making a difference in local and foreign communities? And IF YES, why do you choose to support MSC?

I think MSC is having a major impact in local and foreign communities because Bob, Gaye and MSC’s hearts are right before the Lord. As long as that continues to be the case, we want to be on board and continue to support MSC as God leads us. Go MSC and keep up the good work!

Our Mission

Mitchell Swaback Charities was started October 15th, 2004. Our purpose is to continue to impact individuals, organizations and families as Mitch has done so many times. We want to continue Mitch's compassion to serve in missions, the church and to honor God in the way Mitch did on a daily basis. We will continue to form partnerships that will allow us to expand our ministry.

Through the many opportunities that surround us, we look forward to making a difference.

We will honor the Lord in all we do. Learn more >>

Mitch's Story

For 23 years our son Mitch etched memories into the hearts of everyone he met. He was as real as they come. What he meant to us and to so many others now belongs to the legacy we will cherish forever.

At Mitch's going-home service Pastor James MacDonald used one word that best described Mitch: "Maximum." Read more >>
