MSC Review of 2011
As we take a look back at 2011 and share some of the things MSC has accomplished, we know that none of this would be possible without the help of our donors and volunteers. The economy has been sluggish for the last three years, people are hurting, many have no jobs, yet the dependence on organizations and ministries keeps growing. It’s our hope and desire that together we can continue to make a difference in the people that need it the most. Highlights for the year include the opening of the Harvest Compassion Center, partnering with Harvest Bible Chapel of North Phoenix. The center is currently serving over 50 families per week providing food and clothes at no charge for each guest, but more importantly we share God’s love by praying with each guest, inviting them to church and giving them a Bible if they need one.
Another highlight was the Chicago Half Marathon and 5k run held on 9-11-11, the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Altogether, MSC had over thirty runners and raised $50,000. MSC had the honor of handing out the fourth annual Torch Award which provides a full scholarship for two high school students at Harvest Christian Academy, this year’s recipients were Laurel Clarkson and Luke Agase. MSC also installed a sound and P.A. system in the Mitchell Swaback Athletic Center in Elgin, Illinois. MSC was privileged to approve grants for the following ministries and/or organizations: Holding on to Hope Ministries, Walk in the Word, Harvest Compassion Center, Living Water International (installed our second well in South Africa) Leadership Resources, By the Hand Kids Club, The Jeff Gordon Foundation, DuPage PADS and Wycliffe Bible Translators. For a complete list of all the ministries and organizations MSC supports please refer to our web site. As we look forward to 2012, we trust that the Lord will bring us new opportunities in helping many more ministries, organizations and individuals. Something that Gaye and I will never forget is why MSC was started. MSC was started in 2004 after our son Mitch went home to be with the Lord. We will never forget the passion Mitch had to serve and help others no matter what their story was. Mitch was contagious in many ways; he taught us how to be better servants. It will always be our desire to honor the Lord our God in all that we do.
On behalf of our Family, Board of Directors and Partners.
With Much Love, Bob and Gaye Swaback
