Choose To Stand

13You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. 14You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
—Matthew 5:13-16

When Jesus says you're the salt of the earth, He's saying no one else in the world really has what we have. As a follower of Jesus Christ with the Spirit of God living in you, you have something unique in the world. And we all have it collectively. Because the Light has been turned on; because we understand about life and eternity and the forgiveness of sins and the hope of eternal life, we can season the earth.

Jesus is talking about impact. We were made to make a difference in the world. You're not just supposed to be taking your thing and tucking it up inside of you. Part of standing for Jesus Christ is just like salt—it impacts everything that it touches. There's nothing else quite like it. You're the salt in the earth. No one else can do in the world what God has called us to do.

Standing for Jesus Christ means salting the earth. You just can't go along minding your own business, leaving everything alone. You were made to impact people. It’s a sad day when the world gets a taste of us and finds no flavor! We’ve lost our saltiness! You say, "James, I find that overwhelming. I don't think really that I'm a very impactful person." Listen, within can he framework of your personality, within the context of how God made you, you have the ability to impact the world. But it is not just what you're doing individually; it's what we're doing collectively as the Body of Christ that flavors the world!

Aren't you glad this whole kingdom of God thing isn't just on your shoulders? It's not just what you're doing, it's what we're all doing together to salt the earth.

Now, of course, probably a more technical analogy would be that we're the salt shaker, the actual salt itself is the Word of God. That's what impacts people and their lives. When we take a stand, we salt the earth. And it's what we do collectively. Let's recommit ourselves to that work together. Stand by salting the earth.

Well I was right it took me two hours to get stressed out at work! God taught me about changed life-if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17 It's about not being attracted to the old things before we became born again — He is what we should be attracted to.

Annual Golf Outing: Put On Hold

March 27, 2011

To all of our faithful donors and supporters, after much prayer and discussion MSC has decided not to have our annual golf outing and auctions this coming June. We regret not being to put on this event in our slumping economy, but look forward to resuming in 2012! Putting on the MSC Annual Golf Outing, Dinner, and Auctions for 6 straight years has been one of the biggest blessings for us. MSC continues to be a lasting charity making an impact for the needy and our goal is to grow reaching more individuals with the love of God.  Every donor, partner, and supporter who has partnered with MSC has truly paved the way for us to keep our focus and for that we thank you and will see you back on the greens in 2012!
