I’m thrilled to be running again for MSC! The first MSC sponsored half marathon was my very first long distance race, now 7 years later I’ve completed 5 half marathons in three different states, running each step in my brother’s memory. Plain and simple that is why I run, of course the health benefits are great and after having two kids it helped me drop my baby-weight, but I run for Mitch. If I ever slow up or consider ditching a run, I hear Mitch calling out, “Come on, don’t be a baby!”
I’ve learned so much through my family launching MSC and at the core of it is the lesson that we all can do more! I can be more involved, I can help others who are truly in need, I will continue to be a driving force sharing the love of God. I won’t be the coach from the sidelines cheering and applauding; I will be the one sweating and tired. My brother, Mitch, just turned the big ‘30’ up in heaven and as the tears filled my eyes because I couldn’t call him to wish him a simple ‘Happy Birthday’ my heart knows there is a master plan and through MSC that plan is being carried out. Losing a brother is something I hope many do not have to endure, but carrying on his legacy is an honor. For that reason I will train daily and once again put my entire heart and body into this race.
