I do not consider myself to be a long distance runner. However, I’ve loved playing all kinds of sports ever since I can remember and have always loved competing. I have never run a half marathon before (or more than 5 miles at a time!), but this will be a great challenge for me, and I know it’s for a great cause. I am a little nervous right now and have a long way to go, but I know the Lord will help me with my training and the race. One of my favorite verses is Colossians 3:23 which says, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men.” This motivates me as I train (and in all areas of life) because the glory is all for Him. He deserves my best!
I am currently a P.E. teacher and girls’ basketball coach at Harvest Christian Academy in Elgin, IL. I have had the privilege to use the “Mitchell Swaback Athletic Center” for P.E. classes, athletic open gyms, practices, games, camps, etc. I also know that the “Mitch” has been a place where God’s Word has been declared and many prayers have been answered. I am so thankful for the generosity of the Swabacks for building these wonderful facilities for the people and community of Harvest Bible Chapel. I have never had the opportunity to meet the Swabacks, but after reading their stories and hearing about them, their love for the Lord is so evident in their lives. I am thankful for their testimonies, their commitment and service to the Lord, their love and care for others, their generosity, and their Godly example.
