Holding on to Hope March 2010 Update
The Internet Pornography Industry profited 97.2 billion dollars last year worldwide. There is no outcry in the media, no warnings in schools, and deathly silence in the church community. I spoke with three high school freshman boys last week who are hooked on Internet pornography. Each of them acknowledged the ease with which they are able to access porn. In the short time I spent with them, I felt the shame and pain they feel from this powerful addiction. They are afraid to speak out and they have had no one challenge them to battle this in their communities.
This is the silent sexual abuse of this current generation. Children are being abused by the millions. We cannot continue to ignore the damage this is doing to children and unfortunately too many adults. Thank you for partnering with Holding on to Hope. This is not going to go away and will continue to escalate if we just ignore it. Challenge your communities to put this out in the open, even if it is only once a year. The consequences of silence are too costly.
I had the wonderful opportunity to speak at the Pacific Garden Mission this month to nearly 400 people. My daughter Jaimee provided some music and after the service we were able to share with many that have the long term effects of childhood abuse. If we had time, I know that nearly all those in attendance could share their personal stories of abuse. Jesus so often spoke about the broken and suffering. Keep Michael, Jarrod, Matt, Jericho, and Rosita in your prayers. They are just a few of the many Jaimee and I were able to share the joy of healing in our Lord.
Pray that doors will open to the message. I will be in Colorado in February and Texas in March sharing the message of hope. Thanks for your prayers and support.
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. James 1:12
